Nasir condemns baton-charging, tear gas shelling on govt employees

Minister demands immediate release of arrested employees

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has condemned the incident of tear gas shelling and baton-charging by the police on government employees in Islamabad, terming it an inhumane act against the peaceful protesters, who were staging demonstration for their legitimate demands.

In a statement on Wednesday, the minister said that such situation would not have arisen if the federal government had accepted the genuine demands of government employees. “Actually the PTI government has to prove its incompetence every day. The government has mishandled the peaceful protesters,” the minister added and demanded the immediate release of arrested employees.

Nasir further said that the PTI, who had been protesting across the country, was frightened from the protest of government employees. “You [PM Imran Khan] throttle someone and tell him not to protest. It will not going to work. You would not be able to stand in front of it as the temperature is boiling fast. Former president Asif Ali Zardari had approved 150 per cent increase in the salaries and the government employees still remember the PPP government,” he concluded.
