Zoo day traffic

The zoological garden in Karachi, also known as Gandhi Garden, has a fixed day for women and children to visit — Wednesday. Men are not allowed entry into the garden on Wednesday even if they are with their families. The closing time of the zoo is around 7 or 7:30 pm.

This is when the women exit the zoo with their children, waiting for a bus, rickshaw or other modes of transport outside the main gate. This creates an unnecessary blockade every Wednesday and even the traffic police present at the Garden Signal are not able to control the traffic.

This happens every Wednesday. I commute on a bike and have to wait an extra 20-30 minutes every Wednesday just to cross the signal opposite of the zoo’s main gate. I request the authorities concerned to take suitable measures to solve this problem. There needs to be a dedicated waiting area or a similar initiative that does not complicate commute for other people.
