Parkinson’s without relief

Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative condition that primarily affects the elderly. Its symptoms, such as hand tremors, stiffness, slow movement and muddled thinking, significantly impact daily activities. These symptoms can be managed with medications; the most essential being levodopa carbidopa, which is included in the World Health Organisation’s list of essential medicines. Unfortunately, this critical drug is unavailable, leaving the patients without effective alternatives. The absence of such a critical medicine has exacerbated the woes of patients. The government must ensure the availability of essential medications in the market.
