Specific promises

Every new government comes to power in Pakistan making two sets of promises; general and specific. The general promises are made to the people of Pakistan about higher living standards, more jobs, better education and improved health services. The specific promises are made to smaller parties and politicians, who are offered favours in return for their political support. However, the government prefers to fulfil the specific promises made to its political allies, and forgets about the promises made to the public. This is not only unfortunate for the people of Pakistan, but also a matter of utmost concern.
