Not enough

Poverty and illiteracy are rampant in Pakistan. The feudal class dominates our politics, society and culture. It exploits the working class through the power it has accumulated over years and decades. The high rate of illiteracy further strengthens feudalism, and poverty enables the elite to buy the votes of the poor. Education can break the pattern of feudal dominance in rural parts of the country. Democracy cannot flourish in Pakistan unless the country undergoes social, economic and political reforms that include redistribution of agricultural land. Merely holding elections may not be enough.
