The government has decided to use LED bulbs for saving electricity. At present, billions of rupees are spent on their imports. Local assembly and manufacturing services should be encouraged through tax and other incentives for such essential and valuable items to achieve some level of self-reliance and save some foreign currency. Besides, a functional industry would naturally lead to more and better employment opportunities for the locals.
