China cruises past Pakistan in volleyball tournament

NAKHON PATHOM: China cruised past Pakistan with a 3-0 victory in the 2022 men’s Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup here on Thursday.

China began the contest strongly by taking a 3-0 lead in the opening set, which they went on to win 25-22.

The Chinese team continued their good form in the second set, allowing head coach Wu Sheng to send in reserve players including Wang Bin, who joined the team after the FIVB Nations League.

The youngest player on the Chinese team, Wang contributed several powerful spikes as China took the second set 25-17.

Pakistan was unable to turn the tide despite China further rotating its line-up, with China taking the last set 25-18.

China is grouped with Bahrain, Pakistan and Iran.

In Thursday’s other match, Bahrain handed Iran its first loss in the tournament, winning 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18.

China will face Iran on Friday.
