Peshawar Zalmi to add Chinese, Turkish cricketers in squad

ISLAMABAD: Peshawar Zalmi Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Javed Afridi on Friday announced that one Chinese and one Turkish cricketer would be joining the franchise’s squad in the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Javed Afridi, in a media statement, said that Peshawar Zalmi has always tried to bring friendly countries closer through cricket. Now this step would help promote cricket in China and Turkey, he said.

Peshawar Zalmai has already provided training and learning opportunities to two Chinese and many Turkish cricketers in the previous seasons of the PSL with the squad.

The Chinese and Turkish cricketers would also get a chance to learn with Pakistan and international cricketers in the PSL 7, Afridi added.

Back in July, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL franchises had agreed to hold the 7th edition of the league in January and February next year.

According to a statement issued by the PCB, the decision was made during a virtual meeting of PCB officials and all the six franchises’ owners.
