  • ICL ready for historic season two under Zaraq Nazir's vision

Cricket has always united Pakistan, but the emergence of the Influencers Cricket League (ICL) has introduced an entirely new dimension to the country's sporting landscape by successfully combining competitive cricket, digital creators and entertainment into one professionally managed platform.

At the heart of this transformation is digital entrepreneur and sports innovator Zaraq Nazir, whose vision has rapidly elevated the Influencers Cricket League from a simple concept into one of Pakistan's fastest-growing sports entertainment properties.

The idea was born from friendly cricket matches played by Zaraq and fellow content creator Nadeem Mubarak. Videos from those games attracted overwhelming engagement across social media, convincing the organisers that millions of fans wanted to see their favourite creators compete in a structured, professionally organised tournament rather than casual exhibition matches.

That vision became reality when the inaugural Influencers Cricket League was staged at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala, featuring eight franchise teams representing some of Pakistan's biggest creators from TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. Popular personalities, including Rajab Butt, Nadir Ali, Sid Mr Rapper and Nadeem Mubarak, drew packed crowds to the stadium while generating millions of online views, proving that creator-led sport had enormous commercial and entertainment potential. Lahore Badshah, captained by Rajab Butt, lifted the league's first title after an impressive campaign.

Serving as the league's founding Chief Executive Officer before transitioning to Chief Operating Officer to oversee long-term strategy and tournament operations, Zaraq played a pivotal role in establishing the competition's organisational framework, coordinating participating creators, developing commercial partnerships and introducing the league to mainstream audiences.

Unlike conventional exhibition events, the ICL focused on professional event management, high-quality production, digital storytelling and continuous fan engagement across multiple platforms. The innovative approach successfully connected brands, creators and cricket supporters while attracting younger audiences whose sports consumption increasingly revolves around digital media.

Encouraged by the overwhelming response, organisers have already confirmed that the second edition will be held in October 2026 and promise a significantly enhanced tournament. A professional player auction and franchise draft system will be introduced to increase competitiveness and transparency, while upgraded broadcast production, expanded sponsorship opportunities and enhanced fan experiences are expected to raise the league to a new level.

"We want Season Two to be bigger in every aspect, more competitive, more entertaining and digitally the strongest sporting event in Pakistan," Zaraq said. "Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience for fans, creators, sponsors and players while taking influencer cricket to an entirely new level."

As his audience grew, Zaraq expanded his content into social impact and giveaway campaigns, where he helped people in need by distributing money and supporting individuals in public spaces. His generosity-focused content connected with millions and significantly boosted his popularity across platforms. Today, Zaraq has built a strong social media presence with over 5 million followers on TikTok, 2 million on Facebook, around 600K on Instagram, and 150K subscribers on YouTube.

He believes modern sporting events must extend beyond competition on the field by creating immersive digital experiences capable of engaging audiences before, during and after every match. Under Zaraq's leadership, the Influencers Cricket League has emerged as a pioneering model that blends cricket, technology, entertainment and entrepreneurship, creating fresh commercial opportunities for brands while expanding the reach of the game among younger generations.
