Dozens of students faint during school photoshoot in Lahore

LAHORE: Around 60 students fell unconscious during an outdoor photoshoot at a private school in Lahore after being exposed to extreme heat for an extended period.

According to initial reports, the students were participating in a school photography session held in the open when several began feeling unwell due to the hot weather. Many complained of dizziness, dehydration and exhaustion before collapsing.

School staff immediately shifted the affected students to nearby hospitals and provided first aid. Most were reported to be in stable condition after receiving medical treatment.

Health officials believe prolonged exposure to high temperatures and inadequate hydration may have contributed to the incident, although the exact cause is being investigated.

Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident and are reviewing whether appropriate safety measures were in place during the outdoor activity.

The incident has renewed concerns about conducting lengthy outdoor events for students during the ongoing heatwave, with experts urging educational institutions to prioritise children's health and safety by avoiding exposure to extreme temperatures.
