12 arrested over suspected plot targeting Tablighi Jamaat event in Suffolk
British police said 12 people were arrested over a right-wing terror threat targeting a Tablighi Jamaat gathering in Suffolk. Authorities ended the UK Ijtima early and said all 15,000 attendees left safely after a major incident was declared.

LONDON: British police said 12 people have been arrested over a right-wing terror threat linked to a Tablighi Jamaat Islamic gathering at Shrubland Hall in Suffolk, where the UK Ijtima was brought to an early end on Sunday as a precaution.
Counter Terrorism Policing London said the event was cut short after authorities became aware of a possible threat. The gathering had drawn 15,000 attendees, and police said a major incident was declared early on Sunday to manage a safe and coordinated departure from the site.
UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the police response to what she described as a credible threat had prevented possible loss of life. In a statement, she said the development would be deeply troubling for British Muslims and urged unity against hatred.
