 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, on Sunday expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir and Father Emir of the State of Qatar, paying rich tribute to his visionary leadership and extending heartfelt condolences to the Qatari leadership, the Royal Family and the people of Qatar.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Pakistan, the leaders conveyed sympathies to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, while recalling the late Sheikh Hamad’s enduring contributions to Qatar’s remarkable transformation, regional peace and the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar.

The prime minister, in a post on his X handle, extended heartfelt condolences to “Dear Brother the Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the distinguished members of the Al Thani family, the Government, as well as the brotherly people of Qatar on this solemn occasion.”

He said the Father Emir, late Sheikh Hamad, was a great leader and statesman whose wisdom, foresight and dedication to public service transformed Qatar into a modern, prosperous and globally respected nation. His enduring contributions to the welfare of his nation and its people, as well as to regional peace, development and international cooperation, would be remembered for generations to come.

“We stand in solidarity with them in this moment of profound grief. We will always cherish the Father Amir’s warmth, kindness and deep affection for Pakistan, as well as the fond memories of his many visits to our country,” the prime minister added.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the departed Father Amir the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdaus and shower His blessings upon the Royal Family and their Qatari brothers and sisters to bear this irreparable loss with strength, patience and fortitude.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari also extended his heartfelt condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Government and the brotherly people of Qatar on the sad occasion, according to a President Secretariat Media Wing press release.

The president paid tribute to the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s visionary leadership and his invaluable contributions to Qatar’s progress and development, as well as to regional peace and cooperation.

President Zardari prayed that Allah Almighty may grant the departed soul the highest place in Jannah and bless the bereaved family and the people of Qatar with strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss.

DPM/FM Dar expresses condolences

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar also expressed deep grief over the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

“On behalf of the people, Government of Pakistan and myself, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Al Thani family, the Emir, the Government and the people of Qatar,” the deputy prime minister said in a post on his X handle.

Recalling the late leader’s legacy, Dar said Sheikh Hamad played a pivotal role in Qatar’s modern development during his reign and made significant contributions to strengthening the enduring bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Qatar.

He said Sheikh Hamad’s visionary leadership and contributions to regional peace would be remembered for years to come.
