42 security personnel martyred, 54 terrorists killed in recent Balochistan attacks: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Wednesday that 42 security personnel were martyred and 54 terrorists were neutralised in three major attacks in Balochistan over the past four days.

Addressing a press conference, the military spokesman said the first incident took place on the night of July 4 and July 5 in Hanna Urak, where, according to him, Fitna al Khawarij militants attacked local residents. He said the area’s people resisted the assault and forced the attackers to retreat. Lt Gen Chaudhry said four civilians were martyred and six others were injured in that attack.

He said the second incident involved a multidirectional attack by Fitna al Khawarij militants on a police checkpost guarding Pumping Station No. 3.

Lt Gen Chaudhry said a total of 42 security personnel had embraced martyrdom in the recent incidents, while 54 terrorists had been killed. During the briefing, he described the attackers in Hanna Urak as belonging to what he called Indian proxy Fitna Al Khawarij. The Pakistani government uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and its affiliates.
