North Korea's Kim oversees latest naval weapons tests
Kim Jong Un oversaw weapons tests on North Korea’s 5,000-tonne destroyer Kang Kon, state media said. The drills came days after another destroyer entered service and after Kim pledged a nuclear-armed navy.

PYONGYANG: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised weapons tests this week involving the 5,000-tonne destroyer Kang Kon, according to state media.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency said on Sunday that the drills were held on Friday and included cruise missile launches as well as what it described as electronic warfare means.
The Kang Kon is the same naval vessel that overturned during its launch ceremony last year before being repaired. The latest tests were reported less than two weeks after another 5,000-tonne destroyer, the Choe Hyon, was formally placed into military service.
At that commissioning event, Kim said North Korea would arm its navy with nuclear weapons and move ahead with plans for new 10,000-tonne warships. The latest report from KCNA did not provide further details about the tests beyond saying Kim oversaw them.
