HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is scheduled to meet on Tuesday after a gap of 267 days, with Mayor Kashif Shoro summoning a budget session at Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium.

According to the four-point agenda issued by Council Officer Faiza Akram on the mayor’s instructions, the meeting will begin with confirmation of the proceedings of the previous budget session, which was held eight months and 24 days ago. The agenda also includes presentation of revised estimates for 2025-26 and the proposed budget for 2026-27.

The corporation has projected income of Rs6.301 billion and expenditures of Rs6.300 billion for the coming fiscal year, leaving an expected surplus of Rs600,000.

Development schemes on agenda

A significant part of the session is expected to focus on development spending. Tenders valued at Rs601.431 million for 16 schemes under SPPRA rules will be placed before the council for approval.

The listed projects include Rs138 million for an overhead pedestrian bridge with a motorcycle ramp at D-Park, Rs85 million for streets and drains in Tando Fazal, Rs80 million for works in Tando Jam, and Rs70 million for the road from Hostry Check Post to Phuleli Bridge via Bahar Colony.

Other proposed allocations include Rs60 million each for Qasimabad and Nerun Kot, Rs40 million for Latifabad, Rs20 million for Hussainabad, and Rs4.431 million for construction of a boundary wall for the Niaz Stadium parking area.

No new schemes have been proposed for TMCs Mian Sarfaraz and Preetabad. The agenda also includes Rs150 million for CC paving and drains in various union committees, though no scheme-wise details were provided.

Other approvals

The agenda seeks administrative approval for nine completed streetlight projects in different parts of the city. These include routes from Auto Bhan to Bhattai Hospital, Mahmood Garden to Shaheed Chowk, and Kohsar Phase-1 to Khuda Hafiz Chowk, among others.

Approval has also been sought for fire brigade equipment, vehicle repairs and uniforms, with the cost listed as per market rate.

The traditional agenda item, Any other matter with permission of the Mayor, has not been included in this session’s agenda.
