Sukkur approves Rs13.95bn budget for FY27
The Sukkur Municipal Corporation has passed a Rs13.95 billion budget for FY2026-27 with a projected surplus of Rs1.28 billion. Mayor Arsalan Islam Shaikh said funds have been set aside for ongoing and new development projects across the city.

SUKKUR: The Sukkur Municipal Corporation has approved a Rs13.95 billion budget for fiscal year 2026-27, passing the plan through a majority vote with a projected surplus of Rs1.28 billion.
Speaking during the budget session on Saturday, Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh said the corporation expects expenditures of Rs12.66 billion in the next financial year. He said Rs2.22 billion has been allocated for ongoing development schemes, while Rs540 million will go towards new projects.
Shaikh told the session that development funds would be distributed to all Union Committees to support the implementation of public welfare works. He also said the Sindh government had not yet provided a special grant for Sukkur, adding that the municipal corporation was using available resources to improve civic facilities, including sanitation, drainage, road repair and other municipal services.
During the meeting, elected representatives also put forward budget proposals, development recommendations and public welfare schemes for their respective areas before the budget was approved.
