Ravindra steers New Zealand recovery after Archer jolts England at Trent Bridge

LONDON: Rachin Ravindra guided New Zealand out of trouble on Saturday with an unbeaten half-century after Jofra Archer struck twice to revive England’s hopes in the third and deciding Test at Trent Bridge.

With the three-match series locked at 1-1, New Zealand stumbled to 12-2 in their second innings after tea on the third day. By stumps, however, they had rebuilt to 120-3 and stretched their overall advantage to 204 runs on a surface that was beginning to show uneven bounce after three days in intense heat.

Ravindra was unbeaten on 60, his second fifty of the series, while Daryl Mitchell was 26 not out. The pair added an unbroken 69-run stand to stabilise the innings after England’s burst with the new ball.

New Zealand concussion substitute Zak Foulkes praised the partnership after play.
