JHELUM: Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani held a Khuli Kachehri at the District Council Hall in Jhelum on Saturday, where he listened to public complaints and directed action on citizens’ grievances.

The session was attended by senior officials of the district administration, police and other government departments. The public hearing lasted more than three hours, during which Kayani heard complaints from over 400 residents.

Speaking at the event, Kayani said such public hearings would now be held every month. He also said similar sessions would be organised in Dina and Sohawa tehsils so that residents could present their concerns directly and coordination between the public and state institutions could be improved.

The minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were using all available resources for public welfare. He added that Jhelum was seeing record development activity and that the system for addressing complaints was being made more effective and responsive. Residents described the event as the first public hearing of its kind in Jhelum and welcomed the outreach effort.
