India probes Tata Electronics breach linked to unreleased iPhone 18 Pro files
India has opened an investigation into a Tata Electronics data breach that exposed files linked to Apple’s unreleased iPhone 18 Pro. Officials said the incident was referred to the national cyber emergency agency.

NEW DELHI: Indian authorities are investigating a data breach at Tata Electronics after files tied to Apple’s unreleased iPhone 18 Pro surfaced online, India’s IT secretary said on Thursday.
S. Krishnan, secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, told reporters the matter had been reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, the country’s main agency for handling computer security issues.
The breach involved Tata Electronics, an Apple supplier in India, and exposed material posted on the dark web by a ransomware group. The leaked data included photos of iPhone 18 Pro models as well as sensitive lists identifying components and suppliers. At least six files were said to reveal which companies are making specific parts for the iPhone 18 Pro, information Apple does not publish in its public supplier database.
The incident poses a risk to Apple’s closely managed iPhone supply chain, which depends on a network of suppliers across several countries. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September. Tata has hired a global consultant to carry out a forensic audit after documents related not only to Apple, but also to Tesla, Qualcomm and TSMC, were posted on the dark web.
