Punjab government hospitals put under daily deep-cleaning drive
Punjab has started daily deep cleaning in all government hospitals, with the chief minister receiving daily reports and digital monitoring in place. The campaign covers wards, operation theatres, waiting areas and washrooms.

LAHORE: A daily deep-cleaning campaign is under way in all government hospitals across Punjab as part of an effort to protect patients’ health, according to an official statement.
The statement said the chief minister is receiving daily updates on the campaign, while digital monitoring is also being used. Cleaning is being carried out at entrances, corridors and wards in tehsil, district and other major hospitals. Waiting areas and public washrooms are also being cleaned under the drive.
According to the statement, operation theatres are being cleaned professionally each day to keep them free from infection. Hospital doors and windows are also being cleaned regularly, while floors are being washed using chemicals. It added that special sanitation arrangements have been made for paediatric and gynaecology wards as well.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the government was concerned about the health of every citizen in پنجاب, especially children and women. She said the use of European-standard deep cleaning in hospitals was helping curb the spread of infectious diseases.
Separately, Punjab Specialised Healthcare Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique visited the laboratory at Services Hospital, where he expressed displeasure over unclean conditions and an air-conditioning unit that was not functioning properly. He ordered immediate maintenance work and directed the relevant officials to ensure cleanliness in the lab.
During the visit, the minister also asked patients about the standard of facilities being provided to them. He said free and quality treatment services were being provided to patients in government hospitals.
