Illegal water supply setup dismantled in New Karachi raid

KARACHI: A joint operation in New Karachi on Tuesday led to the dismantling of what officials described as a major illegal water supply network, with equipment allegedly used to divert water seized during the raid.

The action was carried out by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) and police in Sector 5/G of New Karachi. The operation was launched on the directions of KWSC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui.

Officials said an unauthorised system had allegedly been installed in the area to siphon off water meant for local residents. During the raid, authorities took into custody eight electric motors, five submersible pumps, plastic pipes, welding plates and other material said to have been used in water theft.

The raid was part of efforts against illegal water extraction in the city.
