Aleema Khan says public stands with Imran Khan on release and medical care

ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan said on Tuesday that support for jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan extended across the country, particularly on the issues of his release and access to medical treatment.

Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, Aleema said any medical treatment for the former prime minister should take place in the presence of family members. She also called for implementation of court directives concerning prison meetings with Imran. She alleged that the decision to stop her sister, Noreen Niazi, from meeting him had not come from jail authorities but from other quarters.

Aleema further said injustice was being done to the PTI founder and urged meaningful efforts to address political matters. She said that if assurances were not given on prison meetings and related issues, the party would consult its workers before deciding its next course of action. She added that Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas would have a role in efforts linked to resolving political issues.

Separately, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said the federal government’s request for financial support from the provinces had been tied to the matter of meetings with Imran Khan. He said a decision on whether the requested funds would be provided would be taken at a later stage.
