UHS approves Punjab’s first PhD programme in nursing

LAHORE: The University of Health Sciences has cleared the way for Punjab’s first PhD programme in nursing, marking a new academic offering for the province’s nursing sector.

The programme was approved by the university’s Specialty Advisory Committee at a meeting chaired by UHS Vice Chancellor Dr Ahsan Waheed Rathore. Following the approval, the university is expected to advertise admissions in the first week of July.

According to a UHS spokesperson, the first batch will have 20 seats. Candidates seeking admission will need to obtain at least 75 per cent marks in the UHS entrance test to qualify.

Officials said the PhD programme has been designed to prepare nursing professionals for roles in teaching, research, healthcare management and policy development.
