Siblings held over theft from woman’s house

ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested a woman employed as a domestic worker and her brother in connection with the alleged theft of valuables from a woman’s home, according to a police spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the theft had taken place five days earlier and that investigators later traced and detained the two suspects, who are siblings. He said the arrests were made after an inquiry that involved technical surveillance as well as human intelligence.

Police said they recovered stolen property worth more than Rs2.6 million. The items included cash in local and foreign currencies, gold jewellery, luxury bags, watches and other valuables.

According to the spokesperson, the recovered property included one-and-a-half tolas of gold jewellery, Rs503,000 in cash, 1,400 Saudi riyals, 125 Azerbaijani manats and 105 US dollars.
