Naqvi asks ulema to back unified anti-terror message

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday called for closer coordination between the state and religious scholars, saying ulema should help reinforce a single national message against terrorism, social unrest and fitna.

Speaking at a special meeting of the Paigham-e-Aman Committee in Islamabad, Naqvi said religious scholars had an important role in promoting unity and supporting peace and stability in the country. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry was also present at the meeting.

The interior minister urged ulema to support the state’s position on countering terrorism by issuing clear religious guidance rooted in Islamic teachings. He stressed the need for stronger cooperation between state institutions and scholars in order to confront militancy and disorder with a common narrative.

The meeting focused on aligning religious messaging with the state’s efforts to counter terrorism and maintain social stability, with Naqvi emphasizing that scholars should contribute to a coordinated national response.
