WASA fixes deadline for priority projects

LAHORE: Water and Sanitation Agency Managing Director Saqib Raza has directed officials to finish all priority development schemes by June 30 and begin restoring roads damaged by ongoing infrastructure works without delay.

During a meeting held to review progress on development projects, the WASA chief said three major schemes under the Chief Minister's Package must be completed within the set timeframe. He told contractors to speed up execution and instructed consultant agencies to keep close oversight of the work to ensure transparency and maintain quality standards.

Saqib Raza also ordered the completion of priority projects being carried out under the Punjab Development Program by the end of June. He said road rehabilitation should start immediately in areas where pipeline installation has already been completed, and directed officials to carry out a detailed survey of streets affected by pipeline-laying so restoration work could proceed quickly.

Separately, Deputy Commissioner Capt (retd) Nadeem Nasir stressed the need to complete sewerage upgradation schemes under the Punjab Development Program at the earliest. He said the projects should be wrapped up in time to provide relief to residents ahead of the coming monsoon season.
