ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army team, represented by the Pakistan Military Academy, secured first place at the International Pace Sticking Competition 2026 held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said the PMA team swept the competition’s top honours, winning the overall team trophy as well as the best pace sticker and best driver awards. The nine-member Pakistani contingent was led by Major Haider Gulzar, identified by one report as the adjutant of PMA, and arrived in the UK on June 5, 2026.
The statement said 16 international teams from different armies took part in the annual event. The ISPR described the result as a reflection of the professional training, excellence and dedication maintained by Pakistan’s armed forces.
Pakistan had previously won the International Pace Sticking Competition in 2020, marking its third straight title at the event. The Pakistan Army first participated in the competition in 2018.
Recent military competition achievements
The latest result follows other overseas distinctions highlighted in the reports. On May 6, the ISPR said Pakistan Army cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas was named the overall best foreign military cadet by Australia’s Royal Military College, Duntroon, during the passing-out parade held in Canberra on May 5, 2026.
Sardar Arsam Abbas belongs to PMA’s 152 long course. The military’s media wing said the award is given to the highest-performing foreign military cadet across all aspects of training and described it as evidence of the professionalism, commitment and excellence shown by the junior leadership of the Pakistan Army.
Separately, in October last year, a Pakistan Army team won the gold medal at Exercise Cambrian Patrol-2025, held in Wales from October 3 to 13. Pakistan also won gold at the exercise in 2024, 2017, 2016 and 2015.
