RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army has secured a gold medal at the Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2025, a globally recognised military competition held in Wales, United Kingdom, from October 3 to 13.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), this year’s event — the 66th edition of the annual exercise — brought together 137 teams from 36 countries to test their endurance, tactical proficiency, and teamwork in some of the most challenging field conditions.
The ISPR said that teams were tasked with covering about 60 kilometres of rugged terrain within 48 hours, completing a range of operational and survival missions designed to replicate real battlefield environments.
Led by Captain Muhammad Saad, the Pakistan Army patrol was awarded the Gold Medal after an “outstanding performance” throughout the competition, the statement said. The achievement, it added, was “a source of pride for the entire nation” and reflected the “professionalism, commitment and high training standards” of Pakistan’s armed forces.
The military’s media wing noted that the army’s consistent success in the event underlines its focus on excellence in training and operational readiness.
The ISPR further stated that the Pakistan Army would “continue to strive for professional distinction” and “uphold the country’s flag with honour” in future international military contests.
The Cambrian Patrol, organised annually by the British Army, is often described as one of the world’s most demanding military exercises. Participants are assessed on navigation, tactical planning, first aid, obstacle crossing, and reconnaissance under simulated combat conditions.
The Pakistan Army also claimed the gold medal in the 2024 edition of the exercise, which featured 128 teams from 42 countries. The consecutive win, the ISPR said, demonstrates the sustained operational standards and discipline of the Pakistani contingent on the global stage.
