Police set up checkpoints on routes linking Rawalpindi with AJK

RAWALPINDI: Police have established special checkpoints on routes connecting Rawalpindi district with Azad Jammu and Kashmir following recent unrest in the region, according to a report published on Thursday.

Personnel from Rawalpindi police and the city traffic police have been deployed at entry and exit points to monitor movement and maintain public safety. The checkpoints have been set up at Azad Patan, Kohala Murree, Holar Bridge, Dan Gali and Mangla.

The deployment was made in the wake of violent protests and disturbances in the sensitive region. Police were stationed at the identified locations to help ensure the safe movement of the public.

The move follows recent clashes in Rawalakot city in which several people, including police personnel, were killed.
