Over 2,500 rural women complete textile training

Punjab says more than 2,500 rural women have completed textile training under the She Threads programme in the past two years. Officials say 773 have secured jobs and 1,150 more are currently in training.

Over 2,500 rural women complete textile training

ISLAMABAD: More than 2,500 women from rural areas have completed training under the She Threads skills development programme over the last two years, according to an official statement on the initiative aimed at building employable skills in the textile sector.

The statement said 773 of the trained women have already found jobs, while another 1,150 are currently enrolled in training. It added that the next phase of the programme is expected to cover a further 1,350 women.

She Threads has been allocated Rs310 million. Participants receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 as well as a transport allowance. The programme is open to rural women aged 18 to 45 who have completed at least middle-school education.

At present, the training is being carried out in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura and Faisalabad. The courses include industrial stitching machine operation, fabric quality inspection, fabric cutting, apparel planning and merchandising, apparel supervision, pattern making and cutting, quality control, garment finishing and related disciplines.
