Student abducted in Bannu

BANNU: A school student was abducted by unidentified assailants in the jurisdiction of Bakkakhel Police Station on Tuesday, police said.

According to police, the student was identified as Sohail Khan, son of Malik Umran, also known as Bukhmal. He was on his way back from school when two armed men riding motorcycles stopped him on Malak Zalkala Road and took him away.

The kidnappers fled after the abduction, police said. A case has been registered and a search operation has been launched.

Police said Malik Umran had also been kidnapped a few months earlier. He was later released unharmed after what police described as tribal unity, resistance and collective community efforts, and returned home safely.
