Blast near Turbat kills three

GWADAR: Three people were killed when an explosive device went off near Turbat, while separate incidents in Qila Abdullah, Wadh and Quetta left two more people dead and others injured, according to officials and police.

Officials said the explosive device had been planted on Mand Road and detonated as a vehicle belonging to a private construction company was passing through the Kalatak Cross area of Turbat. Three people died at the scene, while another man was injured in the blast.

Police and security personnel reached the site after the explosion and moved the bodies and the injured man to Turbat district hospital. After legal formalities were completed, the bodies were handed over to their families.

Wedding firing in Qila Abdullah

In a separate incident in the Gulistan area of Qila Abdullah district, two people were killed after celebratory firing at a wedding ceremony, police said. The deceased were identified as Hikmat Ullah and Ehsanullah.

Grenade attack in Wadh

Elsewhere, some motorcyclists threw a hand grenade near a bakery in the Killi Brahimzai area of Wadh. The grenade exploded and caused heavy damage to the shop, officials said.

No casualties were reported in the Wadh blast, but the explosion triggered fear among residents of the area. Local authorities later started a search operation.

Police raid on motorcycle-snatching suspects

In another development, a police constable was injured in an exchange of fire with suspects during a raid in the Killi Kamalo area on the outskirts of Quetta. Police said the operation was carried out to arrest members of a motorcycle-snatching gang.

According to police, the raid was launched on information obtained from suspects who had already been taken into custody. During the operation, the suspects opened fire on the police, who returned fire. Three suspects were injured in the clash and were arrested, while police constable Muhammad Bilal also sustained injuries.
