Gracie Abrams sets July release for third studio album

ISLAMABAD: Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams has announced her third studio album, Daughter From Hell, with the record scheduled for release on July 17 after months of hints that had fuelled speculation among fans.

Abrams confirmed the album title and date in an Instagram post on May 11. Before the formal announcement, she had been sharing material on social media including studio footage, photos from Long Pond Studios and other subtle clues that followers took as signs that a new album campaign was approaching.

The project marks the next stage in her career following the success of her earlier releases and expanding international audience. Producer Aaron Dessner, who has worked with Abrams frequently, also reposted the album artwork and said they had spent about two years developing the record as part of a period of experimentation and creative growth.

Dessner said their work together had moved into "uncharted waters sonically" while also allowing Abrams to deepen her lyrical writing. The singer acknowledged the comment with a brief and playful reply.

Abrams began the album rollout in earnest with the release of the lead single, Hit the Wall, on May 14, alongside a music video. The song centres on emotional pressure, relationships and mental health struggles, while continuing the introspective approach that has defined much of her work and pointing to a broader musical direction for the new record.

In interviews after the single’s release, Abrams described the album as existing in an "in-between place". She said the material reflects a period of uncertainty about the future while also embracing a wider emotional and creative scope. She also said the album is more existential in tone than her previous work and described the recording process with her collaborators as deeply meaningful.

Discussion has also intensified around possible guest appearances after Abrams suggested in an interview that she was "lucky to have great friends", prompting online speculation about potential collaborators. However, no official guest features have been confirmed ahead of the July release.

Daughter From Hell follows Abrams’s earlier albums Good Riddance and The Secret of Us, records that helped establish her standing in contemporary pop songwriting. With the new album due in July, attention remains focused on what Abrams has described as some of the most personal music of her career.
