Severe heatwave continues in Sindh as Karachi remains relatively milder

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast hot and dry weather in most districts of Sindh during the next 24 hours, while a severe heatwave continues in several rural parts of the province.

According to PMD officials, mainly hot and dry conditions are expected across Sindh. However, south-eastern districts may experience partly cloudy weather, with chances of rain, wind or thunderstorms at isolated places in Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Jacobabad and nearby areas.

Karachi recorded a maximum temperature of 36°C on Sunday, with relative humidity at 62%, keeping the coastal city comparatively less intense than interior Sindh. In rural districts, daytime temperatures are ranging between 47°C and 50°C, according to the Met Office.

The weather department warned that the ongoing heatwave in interior Sindh is increasing the risk of dehydration and heatstroke. Authorities have advised people, particularly the elderly, children and those working outdoors, to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and take precautionary steps as the intense weather is expected to continue in the coming days.
