Karachi to stay hot and humid as Sindh braces for fresh heatwave spell
Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid over the next few days, with temperatures around 36°C to 37°C and no immediate heatwave threat. The PMD has, however, warned of a fresh heatwave spell in several Sindh districts from May 15.

KARACHI: Karachi is likely to continue experiencing hot and humid weather over the next few days, with daytime temperatures expected to remain in the mid-30s Celsius, while there is currently no immediate risk of a heatwave in the city, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office said sea breezes are expected to keep conditions in Karachi relatively steady despite rising temperatures in other parts of Sindh. It forecast temperatures in the city at around 36°C to 37°C in the coming days, with humidity also expected to persist.
Although Karachi is not presently expected to face extreme heat conditions, the weather outlook for other parts of Sindh is more severe. Meteorologists have warned that a new spell of heatwave conditions is likely to affect several districts from May 15 and may continue until May 20 or even longer.
According to the department, most parts of Sindh will remain hot to very hot and dry, while heatwave conditions currently affecting central and upper areas of the province are expected to continue in the short term.
Interior Sindh districts likely to face intense temperatures
The PMD said temperatures in interior districts including Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad and Ghotki are expected to rise to between 46°C and 48°C.
Severe heat is also likely to continue in Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur, where residents have already been enduring extended periods of very high temperatures.
The Met Office said the ongoing heatwave in parts of Sindh may temporarily ease from Tuesday. However, it cautioned that another prolonged period of high temperatures is expected to develop around the middle of the month.
Authorities issue precautionary advice
Authorities have urged the public, especially children, women and elderly people, to take precautionary steps during the heatwave period.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, drink plenty of water and use water carefully.
Farmers have also been asked to plan their agricultural work accordingly and ensure proper care of livestock during the extreme weather.
The relevant departments have been directed to stay alert and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward incidents during the period of intense heat.
The citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and use water judiciously.
The latest advisory indicates that while Karachi is expected to remain uncomfortable because of heat and humidity, the more serious weather threat in the coming days is likely to remain concentrated in central and upper Sindh, where temperatures are forecast to climb to dangerous levels.
