KARACHI: A suspected robber died by suicide during an attempted robbery at an office-cum-house on Khalid Bin Waleed Road near Tariq Road in PECHS early on Saturday, according to police.
Ferozabad police Station House Officer Adeel Afzal said the suspect had entered the office of a travel agency located inside a bungalow with the intention of carrying out a robbery. He said the man was identified as an employee of the same travel agency and had been working there for the past five years.
According to the SHO, the suspect had allegedly prepared a duplicate key to enter the premises. He said the owner noticed that someone had entered the bungalow and then contacted Madadgar-15 and the area police. Police reached the site and surrounded the bungalow, Afzal said.
Afzal said the suspect then locked himself inside a washroom and shot himself out of fear of being arrested.
“The suspect locked himself in the washroom and shot himself to avoid arrest,” the SHO said.
Police said he died at the scene. The body was later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.
