Petrol pumps announce indefinite nationwide shutdown after talks fail

ISLAMABAD: Petrol pump owners have announced an indefinite nationwide shutdown after negotiations with the federal government failed to resolve their concerns over the proposed daily fuel pricing mechanism and dealer margins.

The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association said fuel stations across the country would suspend operations from midnight, warning that the strike would continue until their demands are addressed.

The association said its key concerns include the introduction of daily petroleum price revisions, low dealer commissions and other operational issues affecting fuel retailers.

The announcement has raised concerns over possible disruptions to fuel supplies and transport services if the impasse continues.

Government officials are expected to continue efforts to engage with the association in a bid to resolve the dispute and restore normal operations.
