KARACHI: A suspected robber was fatally wounded after being hit by gunfire from one of his own accomplices during a robbery incident in Liaquatabad on Tuesday, police said.
According to Super Market SHO Shaukat Awan, four men robbed a citizen, Mudasir Naveed, of Rs15,000 near Furqania Masjid in Liaquatabad-4. A police mobile was passing through the area when the victim spotted it and raised an alarm.
Police said the suspects opened fire while trying to escape, but one of the bullets struck one of the robbers. He was taken into custody in an injured condition but died on the way to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The other suspects escaped, police said.
The officer said police recovered a pistol with rounds, six snatched mobile phones and a motorcycle from the scene. SHO Awan also said the same group had earlier looted several people in the Rizvia and Gulbahar areas, adding that police had obtained CCTV footage of those incidents and that victims had identified the suspects.
