Trump says chances of Iran peace deal remain ‘50-50’

US President Donald Trump on Friday said there was a “50-50” chance that the United States and Iran could reach a peace agreement, while warning that fighting could resume if negotiations collapse.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said discussions were continuing but stressed that military action remained an option if Tehran failed to meet US demands.

The remarks came as diplomatic efforts intensified following weeks of conflict and regional tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

According to international media reports, Washington is reviewing proposals linked to a possible ceasefire and broader understanding with Tehran, with discussions involving regional allies and mediators.

The proposed framework is reportedly aimed at reducing tensions in Strait of Hormuz and creating conditions for wider negotiations between both countries.

Trump also held consultations with leaders from Gulf countries and other regional partners as efforts continued to prevent further escalation in Middle East.

Despite signs of progress in talks, Trump said no final agreement had been reached and warned that conflict could restart if negotiations fail.
