Pakistan delegation visits Chinese firms, signs agri-machinery MoU

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan and Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain visited major industrial enterprises in Changzhou as part of efforts to deepen industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The Pakistani delegation toured StarCharge Group, which was described as a global leader in electric vehicle charging and smart energy technology. The company operates in more than 60 countries.

Focus on industrial collaboration

The visit formed part of a broader push to strengthen industrial linkages with China. During the tour, the delegation reviewed operations at leading Chinese companies and explored areas of potential cooperation.

Among the firms visited was Changfa Group, a major producer of tractors, agricultural machinery and diesel engines. The company is known for manufacturing equipment linked to the agriculture and industrial sectors, making it relevant to Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation in agri-machinery.

The delegation’s engagements in Changzhou were aimed at reinforcing industrial collaboration with China, with particular attention to sectors tied to energy technology and agricultural equipment.

MoU signed with Changfa Group

During the visit, Kingsbridge Ventures and Changfa Group signed a memorandum of understanding.

The development comes as Pakistani officials continue engagements with Chinese enterprises in areas connected to industrial development, agriculture and technology. In this case, the presence of both Haroon Akhtar Khan and Rana Tanveer Hussain underscored the government’s interest in combining industrial cooperation with agricultural modernisation.

The visit to StarCharge Group also highlighted another area of interest during the delegation’s trip. The company’s role in EV charging and smart energy technology points to the wider scope of the delegation’s interactions beyond agriculture alone.

At the same time, the stop at Changfa Group placed agricultural machinery at the centre of the visit, particularly given the company’s profile as a manufacturer of tractors and diesel engines in addition to other farm equipment.

It also did not specify the duration of the delegation’s visit to Changzhou.

Still, the engagements marked another official interaction focused on industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China, with the delegation visiting companies involved in both advanced energy systems and agricultural machinery manufacturing.
