LAHORE/FAISALABAD: Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem on Saturday directed police officers to strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy against crimes involving women and children, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, stressing that all personnel must ensure effective protection of citizens’ lives and property through improved performance and accountability.
“As per the vision of the Punjab Chief Minister, practical measures are being taken to transform Punjab into a safe and crime-free province, with the police force actively working to strengthen crime prevention, traffic management, and the delivery of justice to citizens,” the IG said while addressing a general meeting at Police Lines Faisalabad on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by District Police Officers, including Jhang DPO Sajid Hussain, Toba Tek Singh DPO Ikhlaq Ullah Tarrar, Chiniot DPO Dr Atif Naveed, Faisalabad CTO Nasir Rana, SSP Patrolling Mirza Anjum Kamal, divisional SPs, and senior officers of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

Upon arrival at Police Lines Faisalabad, Regional Police Officer Faisalabad Sohail Akhtar Sukhera and City Police Officer Tanveer Hussain, along with other senior officers, received the IG. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honour. He also visited the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered prayers for the elevation of ranks of the martyrs.
Addressing officers, the IG Punjab directed full utilization of the Safe City Project and stressed further strengthening of surveillance systems through modern technology to ensure a safer environment for citizens. He noted that the operationalization of Safe City Faisalabad had significantly contributed to a reduction in heinous crimes and strengthened public confidence in law enforcement.

He also distributed commendation certificates and cash rewards among police personnel from the Faisalabad Region in recognition of outstanding performance.
Later, the IG visited the Safe City Faisalabad Headquarters, where SSP Fawad Ahmad briefed him on modern surveillance cameras, the Command and Control Center, and the integrated monitoring system. Reviewing CCTV operations and response mechanisms, the IG Punjab said the Safe City Project was playing a crucial role in safeguarding lives and property.
He further said that under the leadership of RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, coordinated efforts between police and the public in the Faisalabad Region had ensured effective action against narcotics. He added that under special initiatives of the Punjab government, welfare measures were also being implemented for police officers and personnel to enhance operational efficiency and morale.
