LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz on Saturday marked the completion of one year of “Marka-e-Haq,” paying glowing tribute to its heroes and saying that the people, government and armed forces of Pakistan had stood united like “Bunyanum Marsoos” in defence of the country.
The chief minister paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Asim Munir, Babar Zaheer and Naveed Ashraf for their leadership and services.
In her message, the CM said the “8-0 victory” in Marka-e-Haq would remain etched in history and would never be forgotten by the enemy, adding that the world had witnessed Pakistan’s triumph and India’s defeat.
She said the operation had left a lasting imprint of Pakistan’s strength and capability on the enemy, proving that while Pakistan remained a peace-loving nation, it possessed the resolve and unity to respond decisively whenever challenged.
Describing Marka-e-Haq as a glorious chapter in Pakistan’s history, Maryam Nawaz said the world witnessed an extraordinary display of national unity against the enemy. She added that the bond between the armed forces and the people had forced the enemy to bow before Pakistan’s determination and resilience.
The Punjab chief minister further said that bold and visionary leadership laid the foundation for the historic success of Marka-e-Haq. She noted that patriotic Pakistanis across the world were celebrating the victory, while festivities were underway in every city, village and street of Punjab.
She said students, teachers, traders, lawyers, politicians and farmers — along with people from all walks of life — were celebrating the success of Marka-e-Haq, reflecting national pride and solidarity.
Praising the professional excellence of Pakistan’s armed forces, the chief minister said the country’s “Shaheens” had demonstrated their superiority over the enemy through exceptional military expertise and unmatched operational capabilities.
CM calls migratory birds a priceless gift of nature
In a related development, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that beautiful and captivating migratory birds were a priceless and unparalleled gift of nature, adding that birds arriving from distant lands enriched the beauty and diversity of the natural environment.
In her message on World Migratory Bird Day, the chief minister said migratory birds played a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and contributed significantly to soil fertility. She stressed that protecting the natural environment was essential for their conservation.
She said the Wildlife Force was actively working to protect migratory birds and other natural biological assets in Punjab, while crackdowns against illegal hunting were continuing.
The chief minister said the Punjab government was making concerted efforts to preserve safe habitats and forests for migratory birds, while also adopting effective, environment-friendly and sustainable measures to address challenges faced by wildlife.
Maryam Nawaz said government initiatives had made it possible for thousands of migratory birds — including swans, swallows and flamingos — to return to Pakistan.
She added that during a special campaign launched by the Wildlife Department, more than 34,500 birds — including cranes, falcons, houbara bustards, geese and waterfowl — had been rescued, while action had also been taken against illegal hunters.
The chief minister urged citizens to act responsibly and play their role in ensuring the survival of migratory birds and other wildlife, saying birds were a precious natural heritage and their protection was a collective responsibility.
CM commends security forces for successful operations against Fitna al-Khawarij
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude over the successful operations conducted against Fitna al-Khawarij in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.
She paid tribute to the security forces for sending five terrorists to their “logical end” during the successful operations.
The chief minister praised the bravery, professionalism and commitment of the security personnel, saying the entire nation was proud of the sacrifices being rendered by the armed forces for the protection of the country and the maintenance of peace.
