Lt Col Khalid Hussain laid to rest with full military honours

ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Hussain, who was martyred during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan, was laid to rest with full military honours at Chaklala Garrison on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral prayer, along with Chief of Defence Forces Gen Syed Asim Munir, federal ministers, senior serving and retired military officials, a large number of civilians, and the martyr's family members.

Lt Col Khalid Hussain was a resident of Sargodha. He sustained injuries while leading his troops during a fierce exchange with Indian-sponsored terrorists in Balochistan and later embraced martyrdom.

The prime minister paid tribute to the fallen officer and praised his courage, dedication and steadfast commitment to the defence of the country. He also reaffirmed that Pakistan's armed forces, with the backing of the nation, remained resolved to eliminate terrorism and those facilitating it.
