Four killed in lightning strikes in Toba Tek Singh, Jhang districts

TOBA TEK SINGH: At least four people, including two boys, died in separate lightning strike incidents reported in Toba Tek Singh and Jhang districts during rain, according to Rescue 1122 and details cited in the report.

One of the incidents took place in Mauza Kunal Sheroana, Basti Wasu, in Athara Hazari tehsil of Jhang, where a 13-year-old boy was struck by lightning while playing in the rain. Rescue 1122 identified the deceased as Ali Raza. He was first taken to Athara Hazari Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and was later referred to Jhang District Headquarters Hospital, where he died from burn injuries.

In another incident, Rescue 1122 said Ghulam Sarwar, also 13, was hit by lightning while returning home after grazing goats. The boy belonged to Chak 401 JB, Dabanwali. A rescue team attempted to revive him and shifted him to the DHQ hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

A third fatality was reported in Kamalia tehsil, where a labourer identified as Haji Muhammad, 35, was on his way home to Mouza Pipliwala with his minor son when lightning struck during rainfall. He sustained severe burns and died on the spot, while his son was not injured.

In a separate incident in Mouza Massan in Jhang district, a 45-year-old man identified as Mumtaz Sakyana also died after being struck by lightning during rain.

Separate incidents during rainfall

The deaths were reported in different localities across the two districts, with two of the victims being children. Rescue 1122 provided details in at least two of the incidents, including the identities of the boys and the circumstances in which they were struck.

The first two victims were shifted to hospital after the incidents, while Haji Muhammad died instantly at the scene. In the case reported from Mouza Massan, the man was stated to have died after lightning struck him during rainfall.

All four deaths occurred in separate incidents rather than in a single event. The casualties were recorded in Athara Hazari tehsil and Mouza Massan in Jhang district, and in Kamalia tehsil in Toba Tek Singh district.
