Four militants killed, two security personnel martyred in Gwadar operation

GWADAR/QUETTA: Four militants were killed during a security operation in Pasni, a tehsil of Gwadar district, while two security personnel were martyred in the exchange of fire, officials said on Saturday.

Security forces launched a search operation after receiving intelligence about the presence of armed militants in the coastal area of Pasni. The forces surrounded the suspected hideout and began the operation, after which the armed men opened fire with automatic weapons, the officials said.

Security personnel returned fire, triggering what officials described as a heavy gun battle that continued for around two hours. By the end of the exchange, four militants had been killed.

"Forces targeted the hideout of the militants and killed four armed men," security officials said, adding that two members of the security forces embraced martyrdom during the clash.

Officials said a clearance operation in the area was still under way until the filing of the report.

Landmine blast in Duki

In a separate incident in Balochistan, two security men were seriously injured in a landmine explosion in Duki.

Officials said unidentified individuals had planted the explosive device on a road in the Taleo area of Duki. The blast occurred when a motorcycle struck the landmine, leaving both men wounded. "Both security personnel, who were part of a private security company, sustained serious injuries," a police official said.

The two incidents were reported from different parts of Balochistan on the same day, with the Pasni operation taking place in Gwadar district and the landmine blast occurring in Duki.

The Pasni operation was launched on the basis of intelligence regarding the presence of armed suspects, and officials said the area remained under clearance activity after the firefight ended. In Duki, authorities said the landmine had been planted on the road by unknown persons, and the explosion took place when the motorcycle came into contact with it.
