Pakistan, Türkiye reaffirm push for Middle East peace, deepen strategic ties

 ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advancing lasting peace in the Middle East, stressing continued diplomatic engagement for regional stability.

DPM/FM Ishaq Dar made these remarks during a meeting with Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan Irfan Neziroglu, who called on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the Foreign Office in a post on X.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting peace and stability in the region, the FO said.

On the occasion, Ambassador Neziroglu conveyed the appreciation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to foster peace and stability in the Middle East. The Turkish leadership expressed support for Islamabad’s constructive role in addressing regional challenges, according to a DPM’s Office press release.

In response, Foreign Minister Dar appreciated the close coordination and regular high-level exchanges between Pakistan and Türkiye, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to advancing lasting peace in the Middle East and underscoring Islamabad’s continued diplomatic engagement for regional stability.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further deepen the strategic partnership with Türkiye across diverse sectors.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan–Türkiye relations and underscored the importance of sustained cooperation in addressing shared regional and global challenges.

 

Dar highlights role of professional media

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of responsible and professional media in promoting informed public discourse and constructive public understanding.

He was speaking during a meeting with Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairperson Ms Ambreen Jan, who called on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a separate FO post on X.

The PEMRA chairperson congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister and the MoFA team for their role in mediation and facilitation efforts in managing regional conflicts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region and beyond.

In response, Dar thanked the chairperson and stressed the importance of responsible media in fostering informed public debate and constructive national understanding.

He expressed confidence in PEMRA’s efforts to promote professionalism and best practices in the media sector.

 

DPM, Dr Azra Fazal exchange views on public health

In a related development, Sindh Health and Population Minister Azra Fazal Pechuho called on Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
