 ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Friday held a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, during which the two leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments, including the situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, according to the Foreign Office (FO).

Foreign Minister Dar also held key meetings with his counterparts from Türkiye, Bangladesh, Maldives, Palestine and the Federal Republic of Somalia on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Open-ended Session of the OIC Executive Committee in Jeddah, the FO said in separate statements.

During the call, the deputy prime minister briefed his Egyptian counterpart on Pakistan’s response to what he described as unprovoked aggression, stating that the country’s actions had been measured yet decisive, a DPM’s Office news release said.

He underscored that Pakistan’s Armed Forces had carried out successful operations under Operation Ghazb lil Haq to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Both foreign ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region and agreed to remain in close contact regarding evolving developments.

Meanwhile, DPM/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Türkiye, Musa Kulaklikaya, on the margins of the Extraordinary Open-ended Session of the OIC Executive Committee in Jeddah.

During the meeting, the dignitaries exchanged views on pressing regional developments and reiterated their firm and unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in the face of continued Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the Occupied West Bank, a DPM’s Office separate news release said.

They reaffirmed the deep-rooted and historic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and agreed to further strengthen their bilateral strategic partnership.

Pakistan, Bangladesh resolve to promote shared prosperity in region

On the other hand, FM Ishaq Dar on Friday met with the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Khalilur Rahman, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Ministerial Session of the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah.

The deputy prime minister congratulated his counterpart on the historic and smooth transfer of power in Bangladesh and on his assumption of office, a press release issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson said.

Both leaders held productive discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation across a broad range of sectors, including trade, culture, technology and people-to-people exchanges, and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties to promote peace, stability and shared prosperity in the region.

Support for sovereignty, territorial integrity of Somalia reiterated

DPM/FM Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity and support for the sovereignty, stability and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and condemned the illegal Israeli recognition of Somaliland as a separate state.

The deputy prime minister met the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ali Mohamed Omar, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee held at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah, a DPM’s Office news release said. The two ministers noted that Pakistan-Somalia ties were rooted in longstanding historical and religious affinities and exchanged views on advancing bilateral cooperation in trade, technology and people-to-people contacts.

Meanwhile, DPM Dar also held a meeting with Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel on the sidelines of the OIC Executive Committee meeting in Jeddah.

During the meeting, both leaders reiterated their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the just cause of Palestine, and reaffirmed the strong and brotherly ties between Pakistan and the Maldives, expressing commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, DPM/FM Senator Ishaq Dar on Friday met with the Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine, Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Executive Committee meeting in Jeddah.

The two dignitaries discussed the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need for unhindered humanitarian access and urgent reconstruction efforts, the DPM’s Office said. DPM/FM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the Israeli military assault in Gaza and illegal actions in the Occupied West Bank.
