Russia has introduced updated rules for obtaining a permanent residence visa, outlining new eligibility criteria, application procedures and benefits for foreign nationals seeking long-term stay.
Under the revised framework, applicants can qualify for permanent residency through multiple pathways, including employment, investment, education and family reunification. The permit allows individuals to live and work in Russia without requiring repeated visa renewals.
Authorities said applicants must first obtain a temporary residence permit before becoming eligible for permanent residency. After meeting residency requirements and other conditions, individuals can apply for long-term status.
The process requires submission of documents such as proof of income, medical certificates, language proficiency and a clean criminal record. Applicants are also required to comply with migration laws and registration rules.
Officials said the updated system aims to attract skilled workers, investors and professionals while streamlining procedures for those seeking to settle in the country.
The permanent residence visa grants access to employment, healthcare and education services, while also allowing holders to travel in and out of Russia with fewer restrictions.
