Biker in critical condition after car hit in DHA Lahore

LAHORE: A young motorcyclist was admitted to hospital in critical condition after being struck by a car in Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), according to police and details reported on Wednesday.

The incident took place the other day, when a car being driven in a zigzag manner hit the rider, identified as Saifur Rehman, and ran over him. A video of the incident showed the vehicle dragging him along the road.

The injured man sustained multiple fractures to the skull and other bones, along with neurological damage. His condition was said to be critical.

Police register case

A police official described the incident as a result of racing, saying young drivers were known to perform stunts on DHA roads. The official said many of them were children of affluent families and drove at speeds of 120 kilometres per hour, putting other road users at risk.

The Defence A police registered a case against an unidentified car driver on the complaint of the injured man’s brother.

The same official said police teams were using Safe City cameras to trace the vehicle involved in the incident.

Investigation under way

Authorities were continuing efforts to identify and locate the driver, while the victim remained under treatment.

The case has drawn attention to dangerous driving on DHA roads, where, according to the police official, racing and stunt driving by young motorists have posed risks to the public.
