18 killed, 1,550 injured in road crashes across Punjab in 24 hours

Lahore: At least 18 people were killed and 1,550 others sustained injuries in 1,523 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to official data.

The figures showed that 642 injured people were shifted to hospitals for treatment, while 908 others were provided medical assistance at the scene by Rescue Medical Teams.

The official statistics also detailed the categories of victims involved in the accidents. Among them were 889 adult drivers, 55 underage drivers, 167 pedestrians and 502 passengers.

Highest number of crashes reported in Lahore

Lahore recorded the highest number of road traffic crashes during the period, with 231 incidents affecting 284 people. Faisalabad followed with 107 crashes involving 122 victims, while Multan reported 102 accidents that affected 116 people.

The gender breakdown of the victims showed that 1,254 were male and 304 were female, according to the data.

Age-wise breakdown of victims

The statistics further showed that 323 of the victims were under 18 years of age, while 788 were between 18 and 40 years old.

The data provides a snapshot of the scale of road accidents across Punjab in a single day, with major urban centres accounting for a significant share of the reported incidents and casualties.

The official figures also indicated that a large number of those affected received treatment at the site, while hundreds required hospital care after the crashes.

Road traffic accidents continued to affect drivers, passengers and pedestrians across the province during the reporting period, with the highest concentration of cases recorded in Lahore, followed by Faisalabad and Multan.

The latest numbers underline the extent of road crashes reported in Punjab over 24 hours, with fatalities, injuries and emergency response data all included in the official record.
